You don’t have to have a McLaren P1 or a Porsche Boxster to have a lithium battery in your vehicle! EarthX lithium automotive batteries provide incredible cranking power and last much longer than traditional lead acid batteries. Our lightweight automotive batteries also do not freeze, boil, sulfate, or corrode. They’re even 80% lighter than lead acid batteries!
EarthX lithium automotive batteries are not inexpensive, yet they are ideal for performance automobiles where weight and power are crucial factors. To keep costs as low as possible, these batteries feature less amp hours than traditional batteries. If you drive every day, your charging system will keep the battery charged without issue. If you want to sit with your engine off and listen to your radio, keep in mind that you’ll have less energy to do this.
It’s easy to choose the right lightweight automotive battery for your vehicle. First, consider the amount of current that your alternator puts out. Once you know the max amperage output, find out how many cranking amps you need to turn the engine over. Match these factors up, and you’ll know which battery to choose.
- The ETX1200 weighs 6.9 pounds. This battery is designed for 120-amp alternators or less with 1200 Peak Cranking Amps (PCA).
- The ETX900 weighs 4.9 pounds. It’s designed for an 80-amp alternator or less with 840 Peak Cranking Amps (PCA).
- The ETX680/ETX680C or the ETX36 series weighs between 3.9 and 4.1 pounds. It’s designed for 60-amp alternators or less with 680 Peak Cranking Amps (PCA).
For alternators that output 120-amps or more, you’ll need two batteries in parallel to handle the current. Find helpful tables and more detailed explanations here.
